Stormwater Management Plan Example: An Ontario Guide

Illustrative site plan beside a stormwater report covering design criteria, engineering analysis and maintenance.

A stormwater example is most useful when it explains the design process. Drawings, drainage calculations, proposed controls and maintenance information need to form one coordinated strategy.

Elmid Design Inc.'s guide uses a fictional residential redevelopment to show how an engineer organizes that review. The example compares existing and proposed surfaces, then explains why surface area alone cannot establish a storage volume, discharge limit or infiltration design.

When reading a sample, look for the source of design criteria, the drainage routes, the proposed outlet and any unresolved site information. Do not copy its dimensions or controls onto another property. Municipal requirements and site-specific engineering determine the real submission.
